We’re Under Construction

The Prairie Art Gallery is expanding! We’ve been in our location in the Montrose Cultural Centre since June 2009 and we’re looking forward to the restoration of the gallery’s previous home which partially collapsed in 2007. This location was home to The Prairie Art Gallery for 22 years and restoration is currently underway and is scheduled to be completed in early 2012. When completed, it will connect to our current location within the Montrose Cultural Centre. We look forward to better serving the community. View photos of what the new space will look like.

About the Gallery

The Prairie Art Gallery is unique in Grande Prairie. It’s a public, non-commercial environment dedicated to assisting you in your enjoyment of visual arts. We maintain the largest public art collection in the Peace Region. The Gallery is a gathering place where you will find others interested in arts and culture, and where countless new and unique experiences are found in every direction.

A History of the Gallery

Exhibitions and the Green Space

We have several art exhibitions on view per year that showcase the diversity found in art with various mediums from local artists as well as national and international artists. Since September 2009, we have dedicated a space in to the interactive exploration of and response to art. This space is for everyone and visitors of all ages have the opportunity to enjoy responding to the gallery’s current exhibitions through free art activities that are designed to encourage reflection and inspiration. Activities in the Green Space are free and open during gallery hours.
