Imagine the possibilities of having 14 days of freedom as an artist to intensely express one’s creativity with guidance from internationally acclaimed artists Harold Klunder and Laura Vickerson, who act as non-instructional participatory facilitators. Prairie North Creative Residency is hosted by Grande Prairie Regional College and coordinated with the tireless enthusiasm of Ken HouseGo and Tina Martel.
Prairie North presents an environment where the participants can work on projects and share ideas in an informal studio setting. One is able to work as fast or as slow as one wants and can also work around the clock if so desired. The residency is a collective feeding frenzy where participants gain insight and inspiration from the energy emitted from the others around them. The experiences and new friendships that are nurtured and taken away with the participants have an everlasting impact on their lives as artists.
Prairie North Creative Residency is held once every two years in Grande Prairie, Alberta and attracts artists nationally as well as internationally. The exhibition “Creative Soul” will provide a sampling of the works the participants were inspired to create during, and as a result of, the 2007 residency.
